Miss My Dish helps people find food that tastes like home. We collect as little personal data as we can, we never sell it, and we don’t show ads. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Account data. When you sign in with Google or an email magic link, we receive your email address and, from Google, your name and profile photo. We use this to create and secure your account.
Profile data you choose to share. Your display name, avatar, origin country, the year you moved, your current city, and dishes you miss. All of these are optional and exist to personalise your experience and give context to your stories and reviews.
Content you contribute. Stories, reviews, bookmarks, place suggestions, and corrections or reports you submit. Stories and reviews are public and shown with your display name.
Location. If you use nearby search, your browser asks for permission to share your device location. We use it only to run that search and do not store it. You can decline and search by place name instead.
Technical data. We use a small number of cookies and on-device storage to remember your language, region, and onboarding state — not to track you. Our hosting providers keep standard server logs (such as IP address and request time) for security and reliability.
Error reports and performance monitoring. We use Sentry to collect crash and error reports so we can find and fix problems, and to measure page load and navigation performance so we can keep the app fast. Reports and performance data include technical details such as browser type, the page where the error happened, and how long pages take to load. We configure Sentry to strip cookies, authentication details, and other identifying information before reports are stored.
Analytics.We use PostHog to understand how people use Miss My Dish (such as pages viewed and features used) so we can improve it. Until you respond to the analytics prompt, this is captured anonymously: no cookies, no on-device storage, and no identifier that could link events back to you or across sessions. If you accept analytics, we start storing a persistent identifier and, if you’re signed in, link your usage to your account. If you decline, no analytics data is captured. You can change this choice at any time in Settings.
To provide the service: signing you in, showing your profile and contributions, ranking dishes by community authenticity signals, and moderating content to keep the community safe. We do not sell your personal data, share it with advertisers, or use it for advertising.
We rely on contract to provide the service you sign up for, consent for optional things like device location, optional profile fields, and identified analytics after you accept, and legitimate interestsfor security, fraud prevention, content moderation, error/performance monitoring, and anonymous, pre-consent product analytics. Anonymous analytics use no cookies or on-device storage, so they don’t trigger PECR consent requirements.
We use a small number of service providers to run Miss My Dish: Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), Google (optional sign-in, and address lookup when adding places), PostHog (EU Cloud, product analytics), and Sentry (EU-hosted, error monitoring). They process data on our behalf under their own data processing terms. Where data is processed outside the UK, transfers are protected by safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Your account and profile data are kept until you delete your account. If you delete your account, your public stories and reviews are removed or anonymised. Server logs are retained briefly by our hosting providers for security purposes.
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, and you can object to or restrict certain processing. Email info@missmydish.comand we’ll respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Miss My Dish is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
If we make material changes, we’ll update this page and the date above, and highlight significant changes in the app.
